Update April 2016 – Cuadrilla have appealed the planning decision at Preston New Road & Roseacre Wood . The result of the appeal will be announced some time after 4th July 2016.

The push to frack the UK has reached a new intensity with the arrival of new planning applications in Lancashire from fracking company Cuadrilla Resources. These plans are still just for exploration, since full scale production would require the involvement of a much larger company with the money to drill hundreds or thousands of wells. If approved these applications would permit the first use of high volume hydraulic fracturing for shale gas in the UK since Cuadrilla’s first frack at Preese Hall in Lancashire in 2011, which caused earthquakes. Cuadrilla have stated that if they get permission they will start work immediately.
