Cuadrilla Resources is in the process withdrawing large quantities of fracking equipment from its Preston New Road site in Lancashire, in order to save on rental fees while it tries to come up new strategy for its earthquake problem Continue reading
East Midlands Fracking Update (Tinker Lane) – Thurs 8th Nov, 2018
Fracking company IGas Energy has begun trying to drill a shale gas exploration well at Tinker Lane near Blyth, Nottinghamshire. Frack Free Misson, supported groups from across the East Midlands, is resisting the ongoing construction efforts. Today saw a lock-on outside the gates delay IGas bringing the rig onto the site for several hours. Come […]
Drilling Rig Arrives As Resistance Grows At Notts Fracking Site
The drilling rig, delayed by a lock-on outside the gates earlier in the day, has arrived at the Tinker Lane fracking site near Blyth, in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire. Fracking company IGas Energy is preparing to drill a well on its East Midlands site, and the local community (see Frack Free Tinker Lane), supported by groups from across the region and beyond, are resisting these plans. In production fracking in the region could see thousands of wells drilled across the region, if not stopped. Continue reading
As Cuadrilla Continues Fracking Lancashire Earthquakes Just Keep Coming
After a brief pause to amp up its media spin Cuadrilla Resources has restarted hydraulic fracturing at its flagship Preston New Road site in Lancashire, and unsurprisingly so have the earthquakes. The count is now up to 34 earthquakes in less than 2 weeks (the largest so far a magnitude 1.1), with a general trend of increasing size over time. Continue reading
Fracking Lancashire: New Even Larger Earthquake As Soon As Cuadrilla Restarts
Cuadrilla Resources has restarted hydraulic fracturing and immediately caused an even larger earthquake (magnitude 1.1) at its flagship Preston New Road site in Lancashire. The count is now up to 27 earthquakes in less than 2 weeks, with a general trend of increasing size over time. While the earthquakes are relatively small (so far), they are almost always powerlaw distributed, so for every few small ones you will one 10 times larger (and for every few of those you will get one 10 times larger than that). Fracking Lancashire: Cuadrilla Pauses Fracking After Largest Earthquake Yet
Cuadrilla Resources has pause hydraulic fracturing for 18 hours at its flagship Preston New Road site in Lancashire after it has caused 17 earthquakes (in a week), with a general trend of increasing size over time. While the earthquakes are relatively small (so far), they are almost always powerlaw distributed, so for every few small ones you will one 10 times larger (and for every few of those you will get one 10 times larger than that). Fracking Trucks: Sand In, Waste Out – Where Will It Be Dumped?
Cuadrilla Resources has started hydraulic fracturing the first of 2 wells on its site at Preston New Road, and the impacts extend far beyond earthquakes or or for that matter Lancashire. Thousands of vehicle movements are required, and every fracking truck bringing something from somewhere, or is taking something somewhere.
