Europa Oil & Gas are a previously conventional oil company which has started moving stealthily into unconventional exploration (fracking). Europa are planning to drill a well at Bury Hill Wood near Leith Hill in Surrey which will include testing the Kimmeridge Clay shale formation for shale oil. The company is working in partnership with UK Oil & Gas Investments (UKOG) which previous drilled a well nearby at Horse Hilll, and is pushing to extract shale oil in the Weald.
Europa also recently drilled a well at Kiln Lane near Immingham in Lincolnshire. Increasing numbers of conventional oil and gas companies like Europa are collecting data about shale formations by drilling past their conventional target to get shale core-sample.
Europa Oil & Gas also hold two Underground Coal Gasification licenses around the Humber Estuary.
