Ebberston Moor South Well Site (Yorkshire)

Fracking company Third Energy have permission to inject 2.3 billion gallons of radioactive produced water into the shallow Sherwood Sandstone formation. While the gas production from this site is conventional, given that Third Energy is also trying extract shale gas from its licences in North Yorkshire, this application would pave the way for disposal of fracking waste in a similar way (as has been done in the US), but on a much larger scale.

Permission valid for 20 years until 09/11/2035.
