Norfolk Frac Sand Demo – Tuesday 14th March
A proposals for the investigation of sand deposits at west Bilney Woods is being discussed at a final hearing this week as part of Norfolk County Councils silica sand review. The part of East Anglia is one of only three places in the UK where silica sand suitable for fracking is deposited.
Sibelco are the world’s largest producer of hydraulic fracturing sand and supplied Cuadrilla with sand from quarries in Cheshire for their first frack back in 2011. Sibelco may soon submit a Planning Application for the extension of Grandcourt Quarry at East Winch. The concern is that Sibelco are looking to expand and increase production at the same time as new fracking sites have been given the go-ahead in Lancashire.
