Fracking Company Cuadrilla Resources Use The Law To Bully Opposition
Fracking companies are increasingly turning to the law if they manage to identify named individuals (and their lawyers can pull a case together). This bullying tactic has been used by Cuadrilla to try and silence and stifle opposition to fracking in Lancashire. But singling out a single resident when thousands more oppose their fracking plans is unlikely to win them any favours. Cuadrilla, in seeking to protect their interests and asserting their right to make a profit, are riding rough shod over the community that is already bearing all the costs. Read more…

Update from Tina:
“The court wants me to pay £55,342.37 in court costs for an ‘eviction’ (that wasn’t as we’d already gone) in Summer 2014 of a 3-week camp in a field earmarked for fracking by Cuadrilla. Why is the law not working to our advantage? Why can’t we get it to move quickly on behalf of our movement? What recourse and access realistically do any of us have? We can’t win if the law and ‘justice’ are based on your ability to pay for lawyers – they will always have more. I’ll be in Blackpool Law Courts at 10am on Friday 24 June 2016 – Chapel Street, FY1 5RJ (supporters are meeting outside from 9am).”
