Aurora Energy Resources & Energy Minister Bully Landowners For Seismic Access
A Freedom of Information Act request revealed that Aurora had applied for “ancillary access rights” after being refused entry by 46 landowners. This number was later reduced to four. Further FOI’s revealed that Energy Minister, Andrea Leadsom (on behalf of the Secretary of State) decided that it was appropriate to refer the matter to the high court for determination in respect of three landowners who continued to refuse access. Church Commissioners resisted but on legal advice negotiated with Aurora for conditions to protect their tenants. Read more…
Halsall Against Fracking:
Why Are SEISMIC SURVEYS A Threat?
Seismic surveys provides fracking companies with data, allowing them to secure investment and retain their licenses. The survey process itself often causes damage, stress and disruption. When Cuadrilla surveyed Lancashire in 2012, many residents complained about contractors trespassing in their gardens to lay cabling and even plant explosive charges. If your area is surveyed you are one step closer to fracking.
What Can You Do About it
They do not have any right to access your land without prior agreement! Fracking companies do not want to go to the trouble and cost of obtaining permission for access from smaller landowners and residents. If you are surprised by contractors on your property/land you should refuse access, document any activity, damage, times, dates, locations and take pictures. There are a series of public meetings planned for the area.
