Day eight has seen IGas trying to force more fracking trucks throught the community blockade. The example of a local shop that closed for the day so that staff could get to the Northern Gas Gala demostrates the level of support in the community to stop IGas in their tracks.

Their was also a Mad Frackers Tea Party and an impressive sunset. The local community is resisting the threat to their region with support from across the country.

Third day of the Northern Gas Gala begins with large numbers of police massing and lorries arriving to try to bring more equipment onto IGas’s fracking site. Police tactics appear to be gather a large convoy of fracking trucks (around 11 in this case) and try to push them down Barton Moss Road to IGas’s site in one go. The local community is resisting this with support from across the region.

Second day of the Northern Gas Gala has been relative quiet. The small drilling rig that got onto site on Tues has been erected, possibly setting a larger conductor casing for the much deeper (10,000 ft) Shale/CBM well that IGas plans to drill. The main drilling rig has not arrived yet, but is likely to arrive soon.

First day of the Northern Gas Gala has seen a large number of people answer the call out to protect Barton Moss (and the wider region) from the threat of posed by IGas’s plans. The brave Barton Moss protectors have been blocking lorries from entering the fracking site and 4 people (3 of them Salford residents) have been arrested for protecting their community from fracking company IGas Energy. The police presence has been large and growing.

Major activity in preparation for drilling begins with a number of heavy goods vehicles entering the site. A small camp is already established on the grass verge of Barton Moss Road.
