Bent Farm Quarry (North West)

Sand mine operated by Sibelco UK Ltd, the largest frac sand supplier in the world via its US subsidiary Unimin. The mine has previously supplied (PDF – page 15) frac sand (HST‐80 – Congleton Sand) to Cuadrilla Resources for it ill-fated Preese Hall-1 well. The mine is likely to continue to supply frac sand to Cuadrilla and other companies, including for Cuadrilla’s current appraisal sites in Lancashire. See: Why does frac sand mining threaten Cheshire?.
