Decision On Lancashire Fracking Applications Deferred
At last minute Lancashire County Council decides to defer consideration of Cuadrilla’s fracking applications for at least 2 months to allow the company time to amend their applications.
There was a massive demonstration by local communities out side County Hall, including an anti-fracking tractor-run by local farmers along the main-road outside of council building!
The applications are massive – thousands of pages – and outlines the company’s plans to:
- Use 9 million gallons of water per well
- Produce 5.6 million gallons of radioactive waste
- Supply sites via 20,000 truck movements
- Use 7% of entire region’s spare water capacity – with EACH well
