BUST FRACKING COMPANY ABANDONS 2300 WELLS IN WYOMING
Despite what PR companies and CEOs say, fracking is a short-term industry. Each well produces a very VERY small amount of gas in a very VERY short period of time – typically up to 70% of it’s total gas in the 1st year. Because of this very large numbers of wells need to be drilled. However, after wells have ‘peaked’ companies often lose interest and sell or abandon them. This is where the ‘orphaned’ well phenomenon comes from.
