UKOG have submitted a planning application for permission to create a site and drill an exploration well. The main wellbore would would be drilled to a depth of 5,400 ft, passing through both the conventional Portland Sandstone and the unconventional Kimmeridge Clay shale layer. While the planned horizontal sidetrack in the Portland Sandstone is the primary focus at this stage, testing would also be carried out on the deeper shale layers.
