Secretary of State Chris Huhne this week recommended people watch the Oscar-nominated ‘Gasland’. Huhne, speaking at the Liberal Democrats party conference in Birmingham, said: “”I recommend you look at the film Gasland, which is a bit of a wake-up call. There are some extremely alarming pictures of people setting fire to their taps because of methane gas bubbling up.”
Gasland is a stunning indictment of hydraulic fracturing in the US. Director Josh Fox travelled the country unearthing stories of flammable water, polluted air, industry incompetence and an almost complete lack of regulation.
