The Buccleuch Estates are property of the Duke of Buccleuch, making him the largest private landowner in Europe. The Estate is involved coalbed methane (CBM) extraction, providing sites for Dart Energy’s project near Canonbie in Scotland, as well as Underground Coal Gasification (UCG), with investments in UCG company Five-Quarter and the Estates Energy Director on Five-Quarter’s board.
