Fracking Sand Threat – Public Meetings in Cambridge and Norwich Tue & Wed
Frac sand mining, transportation and handling has caused significant ecological and health impacts for workers and communities living in the U.S. The industry chews up the countryside with open cast mines, contaminates water with run off, clogs roads with HGV traffic and pollutes the air with dangerous silica dust.
Sibelco is the largest producer of frac sand in the world, they supplied frac sand to Cuadrilla Resources for the UK’s first fracking test, at Preese Hall in Lancashire and they have recently submitted plans for a new quarry in Cheshire. The company also has expansion plans in East Anglia. As a community we need to be aware of the risks, come along to find out more.
