New UK Fracking Licence areas given away in August
The results of the 14th onshore licensing round have been delayed significantly but the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) have just announced that the first tranche of fracking licences will be given away in August.
DECC are opening up even more of the UK to fracking companies and these awards will see large areas snapped up for shale gas and coal bed methane exploration. DECC received 95 applications for 295 new UK licence blocks last October. This map shows all of the 10km square blocks that were offered. Do you live in a potential licence area?
