Barton Moss Community Fracking Blockade (North West)

In Autumn 2013 IGas Energy began trying to drill a combined coal bed methane (CBM) and Shale Gas exploration well at their fracking site in Barton Moss, Salford near Manchester. The local community mobilised to resist IGas’s plans and a camp was set up outside the site. The fracking site is on fields east of Barton Moss Road near Irlam, Salford. For a history of the site see the News feed. The blockade ended when IGas left with a party on the 12th April 2014.
