Living With Fracking – Short Film & Information Event

July 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

| Free

Come along to Living with Fracking a short film and Q & A event hosted by Frack Free Harrogate District. Everyone welcome.

“Pennsylvania’s fracking experience is a warning to Yorkshire”

Joanne and Steve White from North Yorkshire visited fracking areas in Pennsylvania retracing the journey made by their local MP Kevin Hollinrake – speaking with many of the same people – to find out what living with fracking is like from an ordinary resident’s point of view. “We started off being completely neutral about fracking. We haven’t opposed fracking because we’re zealots and have some kind of mission. We’re just normal people who wanted to see first-hand what living alongside fracking would be like”.

The couple from Ryedale have compiled a film of their visit titled “Living with Fracking”. They say “We want people to watch this and make up their own minds.” Joanne and Steve will be joined by Dr Tim Thornton, retired North Yorkshire GP, who will explain the basics of fracking and talk about some of the risks to health. Tim Thornton has frequently been interviewed on the subject in the local and national press, and has appeared on BBC Look North, Channel 4, ITV and Radio Europe. There will be opportunity for Q&A discussion after the video and talks.

Free entry. Tea, coffee and biscuits from 7.15pm.
